Teething Problems

Last week we opened our beta up. We didn’t activate our test group or publicise the fact, but we made it live to see what would happen. It broke.

Issues, Breakages & Bugs

First we had server issues, then email system fell down and we quickly found a couple more critical bugs.

We have developed this in the most inefficient manor (by assigning tasks as we have spare resources in the team in between other projects). This also also led to a few glaring issues being lost in the other. We really wish we didn’t have to develop like this, thus we are raising investment right now.

Powering Through

None the less, the end of last week and this weekend has been spent fixing the mission critical bugs along with a few other nice fixes and our beta is all but ready to go again.

If you re interested: We ended up moving our server away from EC2 and over to Linode (migrating from our build-server now) and we went the other way with our emails; Now using a combination of the Mailchimp API and Amazon’s new simple email system

We have (almost) made the final decision on how we will activate the SMS (coming very soon), Payments workflow is almost sorted (coming soon after) and we are really looking forward to evaluating this bloody test group so this week is shaping to be a momentous one.
